EVENT DATE: FEBRUARY 13, 2011
Experience the Vasaloppet, renowned for its hometown hospitality, volunteer spirit and five races that challenge the expert racer and touring novice alike. Enjoy the dynamite starts, Swedish blueberry soup and the downtown finish line.
Osseo and SLP OEC students will staff first aid stations along the route of the race.
Info for students who are going:
Students will be at SLP AT 3:45pm, will be departing SLP at 4:00pm on Sat. Feb 12, 2011. Sat. evening we will be at the Mora High School. There we will have an open gym, and dinner. Sat. night sleep in the comfortable Mora High School gym. Sunday morning rise and shine 5:30am. Breakfast and a short meeting about where to go.
We expect to arrive back at Spring Lake Park on Sunday evening between 4:30-5:00PM
Function at the race:
Main functions are to provide primary first care to skiers at the soup stops and to be the first responders to injured skiers on the trail. You will respond with the snowmobile transporter and person to injured skiers along the trail.
Secondary functions are that of helpers. You may be asked to help by handing out soup and fruit or by helping to keep the road crossings covered with snow. Please do your best to help out the other workers at the soup stop. If they look like they need help and you are not busy, please help them out. Remember there will be about 2,500 racers and you represent OEC.
Third function is to enjoy the beauty and serenity of nature and cold.

- Dress warmly!!!!
- Bring a snack in case you get hungry and don’t want blueberry soup. There are no real breaks once the race has started.
- A bag
