The OEC program compete in several competitions. In recent years we have competed at State and at IRECA. Competitions give students the opportunity to show their skills and test them as well. Responders are given a problem (scenario) that must be completed under a standard set of rules. Competition involves teams of 2-4 rescuers, victims (moulaged or not), and judges that observe and record the rescuer's actions. Rescuers voice some skills but most skill must be performed.

State Competition
State competition is a yearly competition for high school teams from Minnesota. The enterence fee for the competition is sometimes fundraised or some teams find sponsors. The teams of 4 are expected to have a team uniform as well as a list of supplies (coming to this page soon).
On the day of competition, teams take a written test (taken individually but scores are put together) as well as compete in 3 problems. Scenarios are completed in a small square (usually about 10' by 10'). All problems are judged by people who have a minimum of EMT level training. Victims are students or family members.
International Rescue and Emergency Care Association (IRECA)
IRECA has annual conference and competition for student and adult teams.
Last year one of our teams took first place at Boise, Idaho. This year's event will be held at Beaumont, Texas and we hope to do well again.
